My Yoga Journey
In 2005 I was a successful
business executive. One day, I fainted in my office due to acute
jet-lag and exhaustion. When I fell to the floor, I badly
injured my tail bone. The injury caused piriformis syndrome, and left
me with severe pains and limited mobility. After two years of countless
visits to orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, MRI, CT scan, injections,
and physical therapies, Dr. Mark Legume, a renowned surgeon on the
field, advised me to start trying pilates,
meditation, and yoga to alleviate the
pains, and enhance my flexibility.
I went to the gym and tried
yoga classes, and felt good about it. I continued to practice yoga on
a regular basis, and noticed that my body felt less pain, my sleep
improved, and I was able to relieve stress through the practice. It
was not until a year later that I started meditating with American Zen (www.heartchan.org),
and connected the two practices together. My life was transformed in a
significant way.
Yoga feels good! Part of
yoga is the physical poses (asana), which strengthen muscles,
improved flexibility and stamina. But there is more to it – when you
are in the poses, you open the door of connection with your inner
self. The mind-body connection brings more awareness, and guides you
back to the inner divine that we have lost contact with.
Congratulations on
discovering the practice of yoga!
It is my privilege to share
my experience with you, and be your guide on this journey. I wish you
joy and peace on your journey of yoga!
Namaste!
Shilo
